Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year!

A Message from Hall PTA President Sheldon Gray

Greetings,

My name is Sheldon Gray and my family and I have called Aurora our home since March 2005. I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I am a graduate of a Catholic Grammar School, high school product of the Chicago Public Schools, and hold a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College Chicago, as well as in the process of completing my Master’s Degree from DePaul University. I’m married with two kids, a second grader at Hall Elementary and a freshman at West High. My full-time job is the Director of Web Development for a local business in Aurora, IL.

During the last PTA meeting this past Spring I was voted on as the 2010/2011 PTA president for the upcoming school year to volunteer my services for the students, teachers and parents of Hall School. I look forward to the opportunities ahead, as well as working to allow the PTA to assist in any way we possibly can for the upcoming school year. The PTA’s mission as always is to be a powerful voice for all children. A relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.

Each year Hall PTA hosts two primary fundraising events, and other fundraising opportunities are ongoing throughout the year.

In the fall, we generally offer a catalog of various household and gift items for sale. In recent years, proceeds from this sale have generated nearly half of our annual budget to help us achieve our mission and vision for Hall School students and their community.

Each spring we hold our annual Fun Fair, where students, their families and community members gather for an afternoon of games, raffles, food and fun.  The Fun Fair has generated more than 30 percent of our annual budget.

The balance of our funds come from membership dues and ongoing programs, such as Market Day and Campbell's Labels for Education.  We encourage all families to support these PTA efforts as well as other programs that support our school and our children.

Thank you again, and best wishes to all for a positive school year.

Sincerely,

Sheldon Gray

PTA President
